Big Things in Small Packages

Things don’t have to be big to be great. Often a small gesture is more appreciated than a more expansive, attention getting one. I relish a magnum of wine with a group of friends but, with a one on one gathering, it would be too much of a good thing.  We make our Los Carneros Pinot Noir in half bottles because sometimes that’s enough for one or two. It’s a great way to warm up to a meal that will be finished with something larger, or not.

The same principles can be applied to food. I often find myself roasting several sheet pans of potatoes and vegetables for a crowd. It’s a lot of time and effort that’s always rewarded with the hearty appreciation of satiated diners. However sometimes roasting a ½ or quarter sheet pan of something delicious is just as satisfying and appreciated, when you’re eating solo or feeding one or two loved ones.

The great thing about access to small, medium and large is that you’re able to expand and contract as needed. Small bottles or big bottles; Small pans or large. You can choose what you need. On one of those quiet, reflective nights, pop open a half bottle of our Pinot Noir, roast these deeply satisfying potatoes and think about how good you have it.

Until the Next Wine…
