Dear Members of the Media,
We at RSV have tremendous respect for writers, bloggers, content providers, journalist, photographers and film makers. As a matter of fact, a few of us have a secret (maybe not so secret) desire to be working in your profession.
We stand by our belief that “wine is not an athletic event” therefore, we do not send wine out for review. Perhaps it’s a left over hippie ethic (we also send our kids to a school that does not grade) but we feel that lining one wine up against another, in a competitive atmosphere, puts emphasis on the wrong aspects of wine.
We strongly believe in wine as part of the culinary experience. We try to make wines that are subtle, elegant, have bright acidity with the ability to age gracefully. From our experience, this style excels at the dinner table but can be overwhelmed by more powerful styles of wine in a blind tasting.
But more than that, we believe the story of how a wine is made is just as important as the wine itself. Wine is a craft that begins with the care of the soil and ends with an open bottle of wine on the table. RSV is vertically integrated and leaves nothing to chance. Every vine for every wine was planted by RSV and every vineyard is CCOF certified organic and Demeter certified Biodynamic. RSV approaches the cellar with a puritan’s ethic (with the same winemaker for over twenty years) and presents the wine, wherever possible, with appropriate foods from the kitchen.
We would love for you to come experience our vineyards and winery first hand; however, if that is not possible please call or email us with any kind of request and we will do our best to satisfy… just don’t ask us to supply wine for a competitive tasting.
Sincerely yours,
Rob and Maria Sinskey as well as the rest of the crew at RSV
