POV illustrates the concept of inter-relationships inherent to biodynamics as each variety brings its strengths to complement the final blend, making for a wine that transcends its individual components. This package includes three bottles of POV, a Right Bank Bordeaux-style red wine, featuring three different labels with photographs by Rob Sinskey.

Some of our neighbors thought we were from Mars when they heard we were planting the cultivars of Bordeaux in Carneros. Well, convention doesn’t mean very much around here and each year, RSV selects several lots that best express the essence of their Bordeaux varieties from their CCOF Certified Organic and Demeter Certified Biodynamic Carneros vineyards.

Rich, unctuous and delicately scented, this mouth-filling texture of Wildflower Honey, harvested from hives placed around RSV’s organic and Biodynamic vineyards, is absolutely delectable.

Dry and crisp with an aromatic blast of bright citrus, stone fruit and jasmine, RSV’s small production 2008 Pinot Gris is the perfect foil for the honey when presented on items such as a pale yellow wedge of mellow Carmody from our friends at Bellwether Farms in Sonoma. Add a little crunch with RSV’s olive oil and sea salt roasted organic California almonds with herbs from our gardens and let the party begin!

All winter long, lambs frolic while growing their woolly coats on RSV’s certified organic and Biodynamic Carneros vineyards. A harvest of sorts, occurs in the spring when their thick fleeces are sheared as the first sign of life appear on the vine. The RSV Farmstead Beanie Knitting Kit contains all the essential materials and tools to knit a cap that will warm your head.

These same vineyards produce the grapes for our 2006 POV. This deep ruby wine with aromas of earth, fennel, olives, violets, red berries and plum is an exceptional accompaniment to the relaxing respite of knitting with soft naturally colored wool.

The land around the winery bears a mere 4 acres of vines destined for our 2005 SLD Cabernet Sauvignon and a 1/4 acre planting of four varieties of lavender. The steep, rocky, terraced hillside cradles the vines and reflects warmth to a heat-loving field of lavender that fronts the winery. Moisture is plucked from early summer fog but for the most part, the vines are on their own. The result is a wonderfully rich and concentrated Cabernet with sleek lines, firm tannins and balanced acidity.

The superbly fragrant lavender is hand harvested to produce a small coveted amount of intense oil before it reappears as soap. This freshly scented Organic Lavender Soap will cut through grease and make short work of dirt. It will leave you clean, vibrant and ready for an elegant dinner… and a glass of SLD Cabernet Sauvignon
